The Youth Career Program was a transformative experience that expanded my leadership skills. Guiding two young men, Javon and Christopher, from Newport News, through this journey wasn’t just about teaching job skills but empowering them to believe in themselves, face challenges head-on, and embrace responsibility. I watched them grow in confidence, learning to manage time, work as a team, and overcome obstacles that once seemed daunting. Working with Javon and Christopher was a rewarding experience. This experience also taught me the power of community partnerships. By collaborating with local nonprofits, I secured resources that made the program successful and showed these young men the impact of working together toward a shared goal. Watching them receive recognition at the program ceremony was an unforgettable moment of pride, and it solidified my belief that true leadership is about lifting others up. The Youth Career Program refined my leadership style, showing me that leading with empathy, resilience, and intention is essential.
