Entrepreneurship
The grant proposal project for the Child Central Support Agency in my HMSV 494 Entrepreneurship and Nonprofit course was a pivotal step in building my entrepreneurship skills. Crafting a proposal for funding taught me how to think strategically and approach nonprofit work with an entrepreneurial mindset. In human services, entrepreneurship isn’t just about starting organizations; it’s about innovating, identifying funding opportunities, and sustaining impactful programs through resourceful planning. Developing the grant proposal required entrepreneurial skills like identifying the agency's unique value, aligning its mission with potential funders, and designing a budget that maximized impact. This project reinforced that successful nonprofit work requires the same skills that drive successful businesses: clear goals, strategic alignment, and financial management. Working through the challenges of creating a budget and defining measurable outcomes honed my ability to pitch an idea persuasively and sustainably, key skills in both entrepreneurship and human services. Moving forward, I’ll apply these entrepreneurial insights to ensure that any programs I develop are not only mission-driven but also sustainable and adaptable—qualities essential to lasting impact in human services.
